Cables and Wires are the two essential components of every industry. They are required in almost all forms of industrial fields. Both cable and wire are used in almost every form of industry. Right from, SWA cabling, to Conduit everything consists of some or the other form of wires and cables.
The phrase “cable” refers to one or more electric strands that are tied together. While, the elongated strings of drawn metal is known as wires. In the 19th century, excavation of mines and construction of ships resulted in a huge demand for stronger and powerful cables. However, the discovery of various forms of steel making techniques made wires common in mining and other industrial applications. By the mid of 19th century, manufacture of submarine telegraph cables became possible. These cables were quite similar to the mechanical cables. During this period, electrical cable was mostly insulated using cloth, rubber and paper.
Today, wires, are also being used to transfer electrical and telecommunication signals. The main determinant factor for the standard sizes of wires are wire gauges. Today, wires are also to refer bundle of wire strands also known as 'multi-stranded wire.' These wires are basically used in mechanics, or a cable in electricity. Wires are also being used as decoration artifacts like antiques and jewelery.
