The use of chemical dates back to the ancient civilization. However, the modern chemical industry started much recently. It is one of the most advanced and diverse sector of the manufacturing industry. In developed countries like UK, chemical industry occupies third or fourth place as per the products value. Every year hundreds of chemicals are being produced and discovered that consumers usually encounter as end products.

It is estimated that nearly $3 trillion is the estimated chemical enterprise. The EU and U.S. chemical companies are the world's largest producers for chemical products. Therefore we can say that, chemicals plays an important role in everyday lives.
