Europe is the world's second smallest and third most populous continent, covering 6.8% of the land area of the Earth. It is divided from Asia by Ural mountains, Ural river, Caspian sea and Caucasus mountains. The dichotomy between highland and mountainous Southern Europe, which is a vast and partially underwater northern plain is the most significant feature of the Europe.
The continent lies mainly in the temperature climate zones and is subjected to westerlies. The climate is milder in comparison to the areas of same latitude in other parts of the world, due to the influence of the Gulf stream. Europe has a varied Geology, thus you will find landscapes across the continent.
Europe has the largest economy, but there is a variation of wealth amongst its countries. The rich states are in west, and some eastern economies are still emerging after the collapse of Soviet Union and Yugoslavia. Intergovernmental body of the continent is composed of 27 states, with Germany, U.K, Russia, France and Italy ranking amongst the top ten of the world's largest economies.
The European culture is a series of overlapping cultures like Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and many religions. German, English and Roman are the three most popular languages of the continent.
